Study at the University of Gothenburg<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In new study has been initiated at the University of Gothenburg<\/a> to study the effects on oral health of the use of nicotine pouches\/nicotine pouches\/white snus\/tobacco-free snus. The university has issued a statement describing that the study is being initiated due to a number of referrals of dental patients from dental clinics to the university. These patients, it is claimed, have gum injuries that are different from the injuries typically seen in users of traditional tobacco-based snus. This statement has received considerable attention in the Swedish news media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stingfree AB's test with dentists<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In 2024, Stingfree AB carried out a test with 23 Swedish dentists<\/a> who were daily users of either tobacco snuff or nicotine pouches (referred to as \u201dwhite snuff\u201d in the University of Gothenburg statement). Several of these dentists had similar gum problems as documented by specialist dentist and researcher Gita Gale, including irritated or inflamed gums, snuff lesions <\/a>and receding gums<\/a>. In this test, the incidence and severity of gum irritation and snuff lesions were significantly reduced when users switched to using only Stingfree pouches for 5 weeks.
