After his dentist diagnosed him with gum damage, Bengt Wiberg had a crazy idea - ”what if I put a plaster on the side of the prill that is against the gum?”

Several years ago, Bengt Wiberg was a municipal official and longtime snus user when his dentist urged him to stop using snuff. The reason was that Bengt's gums had snuff lesions and the gums had started to recede in the places where he usually had the boogers. Then he had a crazy idea: ”What would happen if I put a plaster on the side of the prill that lies against the gums?” Bengt experimented with different types of patches and was surprised to discover that the pain in his gums disappeared but the good taste and nicotine experience remained, the first Stingfree prills had been made. After a few months of using Stingfree lozenges, Bengt returned to his dentist and was delighted to learn that his gums now looked healthy again.
After a few months of using Stingfree suppositories, Bengt returned to his dentist and was delighted to learn that his gums now looked healthy again.
Since then Bengt has managed to patent Stingfree nicotine pouches in Sweden, the US and then the EU, an industrial method to produce Stingfree prills has been developed and Swedish Match has signed a license to use the technology. Unfortunately, neither Swedish Match nor any of the other major snus producers have yet started to produce Stingfree pellets. Instead, they have stubbornly claimed that ”it's supposed to sting” despite Bengt being able to show survey results with over 1000 Swedish snus users where 66% of the women and 54% of the men stated that they dislike burning on the gums.
Now Bengt, together with his eldest son Daniel, who is now CEO of Sting Free AB, has launched the first Stingfree product on the market, followed by two new flavors. The products are called Strong Blue Mint, Caribbean Mango and Ocean Mint and are available from our online and in-store retailers. All Stingfree traders can be found here.
