Yes, it is very common. In an independent dental study published by the University of Gothenburg in 2022, the prevalence of receding gums (gingival retraction) for snus users was between 54 and 57%.
A Norwegian study of Norwegian snus users conducted in 2023 found that 79% of the participants had snus lesions.
In a survey of over 1,000 snus-using men and women in Sweden conducted by Stingfree AB in 2022, 59% of participants responded that they had experienced snus lesions. 51% responded that they had receded gums (gingival retraction).
Long-term use of snus can cause the gums to recede. This can create a “pocket” in the gums where the snus is placed. Bacteria can accumulate in these “pockets” which can lead to bad breath and tooth decay, among other things.
As the gums recede, more of the tooth neck is exposed, which can lead to sensitivity and increase the risk of cavities in this part of the tooth. In extreme cases, receding gums can result in tooth loss.
No! The gums, or gingiva, as dentists call it, are different from other tissues in that they cannot regenerate if they are too damaged. In some cases, gums can be restored with the help of dental surgery, the most common method being to transplant tissue from the palate to the gums.
No! No other country in the world has such a high percentage of snus users in the population as Sweden. Despite this, there is no increased incidence of oral cancer or cancer-related mortality linked to the use of snus in Sweden. This is stated, among other things, in a large study on snus and oral cancer from the Karolinska Institutet . This study even states that using four cans of snus or less per week reduces the risk of oral cancer.
Smoking, however, dramatically increases the risk of various types of cancer, including oral cancer. It is primarily when tobacco is ignited and inhaled as smoke that it strongly contributes to an increased risk of oral cancer.
No, we don’t think so! But to find out what other snus users think, we conducted a large survey of Swedish snus users in 2022. Over 1,000 people filled out the survey. 66.5% of women and 54.3% of men responded that they found the stinging unpleasant.
The content of basically all types of snus and nicotine portions has pH values that are higher than what is naturally found in the mouth, which is about 7-7.5. The reason why the pH values need to be so high is that there is a direct correlation between the pH value and how easily the nicotine can be absorbed by the oral mucosa. The higher the pH value, the greater/faster the nicotine release. Materials with high pH values that are in direct contact with the gums cause burning and irritation of the gums.
Another major parameter for what causes burning and irritation of the gums is the flavorings and how high concentrations of these are used in the drops. Flavorings such as mint, citrus, chili, etc. and even salts can cause burning and irritation of the gums regardless of the pH value.
This means that if you want both a strong nicotine and taste experience without it stinging and causing irritation to the gums, you need a barrier between the gums and the contents of the pods. That’s why we have developed our patented PROTEX barrier.

Priser och betalning
Alla priser anges i SEK och inkluderar moms. Vi förbehåller oss rätten att ändra priser utan föregående meddelande.
Klarna Checkout
Vi erbjuder betalning via Klarna där du kan välja att betala direkt (Swish, kort eller banköverföring) eller om 30 eller 60 dagar med eller utan delbetalning. Alla köp hanteras tryggt och smidigt via Klarna.
Leverans
Beställningar som tas emot före kl. 12:00 på vardagar behandlas och skickas normalt samma dag. Leveranstiden varierar beroende på fraktbolag, men är vanligtvis 1–3 arbetsdagar. Vi levererar inte på helger och helgdagar.
Ångerrätt
Enligt svensk lag har du rätt att ångra ditt köp inom 14 dagar från mottagandet. Ångerrätten gäller endast om varan returneras i samma skick och mängd som vid mottagandet och returfrakten betalas av kunden. Avbeställning är inte möjlig efter att ordern har skickats.

Returer & reklamationer
För att en retur ska godkännas måste varan vara oanvänd, oöppnad och i originalförpackning.
Om det finns fel eller brister i en vara, kontakta vår kundtjänst inom rimlig tid och begär ett returnummer (RN) som ska användas vid retur. Om en vara är skadad under transport, kontakta oss omedelbart för ersättning.
För att skicka tillbaks en vara gör så här:
- Kontakta vår kundtjänst på info@stingfreesnus.se och ange orsaken till din retur.
- Om returen beror på en giltig reklamation (t.ex. skadad, defekt eller fel produkt) skickar vi en förbetald returetikett.
- Om du ångrat dig eller inte längre vill ha produkten, står du själv för returfrakten.
- Ange det returnummer (RN) du fått av kundtjänst och packa produkten väl.
- Skicka sedan tillbaka produkten med den förbetalda etiketten (vid reklamation) eller med eget fraktalternativ (vid ångerrätt).
Ej uthämtade paket
If a package is returned to us due to the customer not picking it up, a fee of 59 SEK will be charged to cover return shipping and handling costs. This amount will be deducted from the original refund.
Refund
Once we have received and inspected the returned item, the amount will be refunded within 5-7 business days to the original payment method. In the event of a cancelled purchase, the entire order amount will be refunded, excluding any shipping costs.
